Hearty Bean Soup Mix can be used to make a hearty helping big enough to feed a crowd and is also a delicious meal! Green split peas, red kidney beans, brown lentils, great northern beans, pinto beans, black turtle beans, navy beans and pearled barley come together to make this healthy soup so full of color it will make a festive addition to any table.
Traditional how to:
1 cup Hearty 7 Bean Soup Blend
2 quart water
1 ham hock (optional - try using smoked paprika for vegetarian soup)
1-12 oz. can diced tomatoes (optional)
Wash beans, place into a plastic container and cover with 2 quarts of water to let soak in the refrigerator overnight. Drain beans and place in a heavy pot or slow cooker. Add 2 quarts water and the other ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover for 3-5 hours. Remove the ham hock, take the meat off the bone and add back to soup.
Makes 5 cups of prepared soup. Entire package makes approximately 3 1/2 quarts of prepared soup.
