Make Your Own Air Freshner by MaryAnn Loucks

A brighter mood or a calmer demeanor is literally one spray away with these natural and easy-to-make aromatherapy room sprays. Give it a try. (Try a calming blend and add to your child’s bedtime ritual.)

What you’ll need:

  • A clean 4-ounce bottle with a fine-mist setting. Available at
  • 2 ounces of distilled water.
  • 1-ounce alcohol; vodka will do. You don’t have to use alcohol, but the spray won’t last as long without it.
  • Essential oils. See blend ideas below.  Available at

Shake the bottle well before each use, as the oils tend to sit on the surface.

Create your own custom diffuser scents by mixing and matching 5 to 20 drops of the following essential oils.

Calming:  lavender, chamomile

Energizing:  rosemary, peppermint

Confidence boosting: lemon and rosemary

Deodorizing: rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon,
